Date: Thursday 29th March, 2007

The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive forms a key part of the European Union's Financial Services Action Plan, and it comes into effect in November 2007. It is a far-reaching piece of legislation that will change the organisation and functioning of investment firms, remove barriers in Europe's capital markets, encourage more cross-border trading, foster more competition and increase efficiency.

For investment firms, it is not just a matter of complying with the directive, it is also about seizing commercial advantage. This one-day event, brought to you by FT Business and The Banker, will explore how firms will comply with the directive and how they plan to extract maximum business benefit.

Speakers Include

Nick Gibson, , Head of Regulatory Stream, EU MiFID Programme
ABN AMRO

David Simmons, Global MiFID Project Manager
KAUPTHING GROUP

Simon Barker, Head of Regulatory Affairs, Compliance

Our speakers - practitioners, regulators and other industry experts - will cover the broader issues, as well as drill down into the detail. They will discuss how the European Commission will make sure the directive is properly implemented in each state. And they will predict what Europe's investment services market will look like five years from now.

Whether you are a dealer or fund manager, a compliance director or legal officer, a COO or CIO, MiFID will have a big impact on your working life. So this is an event you should not miss.
