Shell has been a key player in Tunisia since 1922 and is now the market leader, focusing on distribution of fuels and lubricants.
Over the three past years, Shell Tunisia has focused on key performance indicators such as brand share of preference and high quality fuel. They’re also active in the bitumen market, supplying customers in the construction sector. 160 Shell stations serve 200,000 customers every day in Tunisia, with a market share near 27%.
An upstream operator in Tunisia (1949 – 1990), they were responsible for oil discoveries in the Tazerka field in 1973. Today, Shell proudly re-enters Tunisia's upstream sector through shareholdings in two offshore permits plus a memorandum of Understanding with the Tunisian Government to develop natural gas resources.
Shell Tunisia’s other priority is to contribute to the country’s sustainable development, including compliance with Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) standards, achieving remarkable safety performance levels for sales and operations as well as for LPG activities.
This contribution is measured, not only by investing in development facilities to support growth, but through participation in social investment projects such as youth activities, education programmes and integrated development projects.
As part of the “Safety First” process, Shell motorway stations were awarded the HACCP Crystal Award.
